Super Deluxe is live

super_d_logo.gifReady or not, here it comes. Super Deluxe, the new broadband comedy web site from Turner Broadcasting is live and kicking.

So what is Super Deluxe? Well, it's a hybrid site of sorts. On the surface, it's an entertainment broadcast network offering original comedic content from up and coming comedians, animators, actors and directors. But Super Deluxe is also a social network, where anyone can create a profile, upload a video, and share it with the rest of the world.

I'm sure some people will groan and think...great, yet another social networking / video sharing site. How original. And I would actually agree. But Super Deluxe isn't trying to be the next MySpace or YouTube (though it does offer similar functionality). Super Deluxe is all about original, funny stuff you won't find on any other web site. And if you want to share a video with someone, or contribute your own, the tools are there for you to do so. The tools won't make Super Deluxe great. It's the content. And there's plenty more coming.

This a "soft-launch" of sorts. Meaning, there are a number of features that didn't make launch, so (for now) we're tip-toeing out the door with a core feature set and will quietly spread the word across the web virally.

One of the best things about launching is that we're finally able to share with the rest of the world content we've been privately cracking up about for months. Including these personal favorites:

"Sodom and Gomorrah" by Brad Neely
From Brad Neely, who's "George Washington" video on YouTube was voted by their staff as one of the top 10 videos of 2006. Expect plenty more of Brad on Super Deluxe in 2007.

"Y'all So Stupid" by Devin Flynn
A complete visual freak out. Amazing.

"No Direction, Period" by The Post Show
What if Bob Dylan had written every popular song from the past 50 years?

"Writers of Lost" by Olde English
A behind the scenes look at a writer's meeting for ABC's "Lost."

"Hapkido" by Shawty
Crazy ass mofo Shawty tries to learn Hapkido.

"Double Date" by Honor Student
One table, two couples. Playground innuendo leads to one freaky orgy of a meal.

Note: most of these videos are rated "mature," so they may not be safe for workplace viewing.

Congratulations to everyone on team Super Deluxe for making it happen.
