SlideShowPro Director

The SlideShowPro brand has given birth to a new application -- SlideShowPro Director.

What's Director all about? Well, it's the result of many months of feedback from SlideShowPro users looking for an easier way to get their photos into the Flash component. Director installs on any Linux box with PHP/MySQL, and handles all your XML publishing, thumbnail creation, album organization, and image metadata editing through a suite of Ajax powered utilities.

Director's roots are in a third party application called SSPAdmin, created by Brad Daily early last year. Brad and I crossed paths numerous times throughout the year, and after a while it only made good business sense for us to join forces and co-develop a new version to sell as an extension of the SlideShowPro product line.

But Director wasn't all that changed. I never planned on adding a second product to the site when the original SlideShowPro site was launched in early 2005, so a total redesign of the site was required. The whole user management system needed an overhaul as well so that existing SlideShowPro users could purchase Director as an add-on product in their profile. It took a few months worth of work, but everything is now up and running.
