Backyard Update
A while back I promised to post some pictures of the architectural project that's going on in my backyard, so here's a couple of sneak peeks into what's been done thus far: Photo 1 | Photo 2.
Both images link to the personal blog of William Carpenter, who's the architect (and genius) behind the design. The "Pavilion" will eventually include an indoor/outdoor living space, car port, fencing, and a large garden shed to house all my landscaping equipment and supplies. It will connect directly to the deck outside our back door, so (when complete) we'll be able to walk barefoot out to the seating area, throw a couple of logs in the firebox, ignite the gas starter (it taps into the house gas line) and enjoy a cool evening outside.
The tall oak tree you see isn't going anywhere. It'll be incorporated into design by building the roof around the tree; allowing an opening for the tree to ascend through. I think it'll be pretty dramatic at night (especially with the right lighting) to walk around its base and gaze upward.
I'll be posting more photos in the near future once a little more progress has been made.
