Dominey Design redo

It's been over two years since my 'official' business site, Dominey Design, has been updated. I've had plenty of reasons to update it, but all my time and energy has been going towards client work, my first software product, and of course maintaining the site you're currently reading. Well today that finally changes with a small redesign of Dominey Design.

A lot has changed since the previous version was launched in 2001 -- personally, professionally, and creatively --- and I felt the time was way overdue for a whole new identity and message.

Gone is the exploratory, whimsical side of someone experimenting with a new utility (Flash 5), in comes a single portfolio page presented up front without obscuration, fancy navigation or visual trickery.

It also formally introduces a new logotype, which is simply my last name. The name is unique enough to stand on its own for branding purposes, and doesn't need flowery catch phrases like "design," "studio," "productions" or whatever else to make the site or business feel bigger. "Dominey Design" is still the official name (for historical purposes), but it doesn't need to be my hallmark. For it's simply me, and my work. Here it is.

Design wise, the new look also captures where I am creatively. It's my first attempt at not respecting 800x600 resolutions (shocking, I know), and it'll definitely test some users' eye sight with the dark tones and small type, but after years of looking at rolling green hills and blue sky, it feels very refreshing and comfortable to me.

At any rate, nothing groundbreaking or award winning, but I'll save those goals for what I'm paid for.
