My PSP - Jacked!
Imagine my surprise -- delivered to my door today was a big box from EB Games, and I knew exactly what it was. I pulled out the scissors, split the tape down the top of the box, and opened it to find a bunch of games, accessories, headphones, a remote, an instruction booklet, and a white Sony PSP box...with a flap on one side torn off. One look inside and it was all too clear what happened -- someone somewhere between EB Games' shipping dock and my doorstep broke into the box, stole the PSP, and my favorite part -- resealed the box.
To the credit of EB Games, few questions were asked, and they're sending me another one pronto. But the larger question remains -- am I an isolated incident, or is this going on a post-offices all around the country?
This is a unfortunate example of how white-hot the PSP is right now. My coworker Robert got his last night, brought it into work this morning, and he almost had to beat people back with a stick.
If you haven't seen one in person yet, it's an amazing product and easily lives up to the hype. The screen is super sharp, the games look incredible, and movies aren't half bad either (SpiderMan 2 came with it). The user interface is a little strange in places, but as a whole it's such a beautiful, forward-thinking device it's borderline shocking to look at -- like the future just landed in your hands, and it's good. Very good.
Now if only they could put the Flash player on it. Oh the possibilities.
Update (3/26/05): EB Games followed through and had a replacement PSP at my door one day later. All is good. And by the way, if you use OS X, and also have a PSP, I highly recommend PSPWare, which is on sale until April 1st.
