OS X Software: Amadeus II

amadeus.gifRecently I found myself in need of a shareware application to do some simple audio edits and stumbled across Amadeus II from HairerSoft -- a brilliant little application that can handle most (if not all) of a multimedia developer's audio editing needs. Amadeus comes with plenty of effects filters (fade, echo, pitch change, noise supression), can import / export audio in a myriad of formats, VST plug-in capability, and a timeline editing window that should feel right at home for anyone who has used competing apps like SoundForge or Peak. But unlike those apps, Amadeus sells for hundreds less (25 bucks). If you need a simple waveform editor to clean up / modify audio loops or sound effects for the web or other use, Amadeus packs plenty of punch for the money.
