Apple! Please Hire Me!

So how does one enterprising, young, talented industrial designer with mad 3D talent get the attention of Apple? Why, if you're Gary Haus, you design your own fictitious Apple tablet named "iNexus" and create an original commercial video using Maya and Final Cut Pro to promote it. Definitely worth downloading.

Wow, that's neat! Mad 3D talent alright. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, it was real good. Too bad about the misspelled word.

I attempted to download the video but I get numerous errors thrown at me from stuffit and quicktime. Maybe it's just me?

Nope Eric, its not just you. Tried dl'ing it from work on a pc and at home on my mac, and either way its corrupted.

Had the same problem with the file from his Mac.com homepage. But this file works (from pixelmojo.com).

From an industrial design standpoint I don't think he'll attract the attention of Jonathan Ive. The roundy, softened forms look like something out of the vocabulary of the various cheesy PocketPC handhelds, as opposed to the clean, squared off geometry consistently deployed across Apple ID since the end of the original iMac, G4 era. I *do* hope Apple comes with a tablet --- and I do think it's smart to be waiting and watching whether the TabletPC sinks or swims --- but I hope an iTablet doesn't look like this.

Thanks for the link Stephen! Now I can get a chance to look at this thing... Finally.

Yeah..I couldn't get it happening either...

Hmmm.but the Launch.com thing from the other day worked the first time...

I don't exactly understand the compelling need for a tablet mac. Is it a competitor for a Palm Pilot? Maybe if the commercial had given me an indication of its size I could understand how I would use it as opposed to or in addition to a laptop. Wouldn't it be hard to use a stylus-driven interface when it's placed in a stand, at least the single, lowpoint base picture here that wouldn't adequately support the upper half to withstand stylus pressure? P.S. I didn't see a misspelled word either so maybe I'm totally clueless today!

bring back the eMate :-)

Well, I would love a tablet mac. I'm in the market for a tablet pc at the moment, and I just hate that there is no mac offerings. A laptop just isn't an option for what I want. My main function on a computer is doing art. My desktop has the horsepower for it, but I would just love a tablet pc/mac to go out and do sketches from life. I may be a niche, but I think there are some viable uses for a tablet that isn't covered by pda and/or laptop

(and yes, I've tried taking a wacom out with an ibook. that = no fun.)

Wow. . .that is awesome 3d work. The work is so recent and new it even has the Safai icon in the dock. Very sweet indeed. Though, I don't know about the name "iNexus", seems out of place with all the other Apple "i" products. I am not full on 100% for a tablet Mac, but it wouldn't hurt to have one. =)
