OS X Software: Aizai

aizai.gifIf you're like me, you probably haven't heard of Aizai. What is it? Aizai is a pair of OS X software apps - a tuner, and a broadcaster - which "allow individuals and groups to view, create and distribute digital photos, movies, music, web pages, documents and folders via virtual television channels." A television, radio, and photo gallery all in one, Aizai is an entirely different way to browse, view, and publish independent content on the web. In one spin, I viewed everything from QTVRs of Tokyo to an erotic home video made at New Years Eve party, a documentary about Foot and Mouth disease, and a home movie of some guy lip-synching a power ballad. Okay, sure, there is plenty of crap to behold, but like public access channels on cable, you never know what you're going to get. The users are the programming directors, and everyone is free to create and distribute whatever they feel like.

Update: Jason Zada has jumped on the bandwagon and created his own WeeklyDV Channel featuring original films from the WeeklyDV web site. Broadcasting now on channel 188.

Geez... Now I have to wait until I get home to try it. Sounds sweet, tho.
