Can You Spot the Mistake?
So I was reading this NY Times article yesterday, when one particular paragraph sent my normally cloudy, Sunday morning brain into fits of syntax error. Find the mathematical Waldo:
Still, the ratings systems have enthusiastic supporters. Henry Hill, 85, of Coral Gables, Fla., is a private investor who says he has used Value Line's system to beat the market. Mr. Hill said he adopted Value Line's approach at its start in 1965, buying top-rated stocks and selling them when they lost that status. He said the system enabled him to retire in his 30's from jobs as a civil engineer and real estate developer.
Perhaps the editors are too busy fighting an incessant front page campaign to smear a possible US-led attack on Iraq to catch "ummmm...wuuuahhh?" errors like these.
Comments
Who knows -- maybe Mr. Hill did say the system allowed him to retire in his 30s. He's 85 now, and likely to be senile. This, of course, does not let the NYT off the hook.

Apparently, police are "proding" into the murder of two Oregon girls. Take a look at USAToday.com. It must be in the water or something...
