Andy Rooney, The Psychic

My family celebrated Father's Day yesterday up at our lake house in North Georgia, sitting around on the deck, eating lots of cheese and crackers, drinking veno, and basically enjoying the insanely beautiful weather. It being a lake house, the domicile is a repository for many old books, clothes and other family hang-ons (including my old Atari 2600, which still works and kicks ass).

Passing by a bookshelf yesterday, I noticed an old book from everyone's favorite curmudgeon, Andy Rooney (the perfect author for his own weblog, btw).

Written in 1976, Rooney looked just as bitter on the cover as he does today. Same desk, same suit, same wall of books. Flipping through, I paused at a rant about consumer items we could all use, but no company had invented yet.

Most items were silly, and far-fetched, but the first item rang like a bell.

(Read the following aloud in your best Rooney whine):

Somebody should invent a telephone that tells you who is calling before you answer the phone. You shouldn't have to answer a call just to figure out who is on the other end.

Ahhh...the simple days of 1976.

Comments

I think Andy Rooney is one of the few people that can get me to stop in my tracks. The other evening he was bitching about the uselessness of bathtubs, how no one have time to use them anymore and the like. Even a couple of days later, I'm still thinking of how he presented that little segment. This guy is passionate about not have a bathtub. What scares me is that everytime I take a bath now ... I'll be thinking about Andy Rooney. ;-)

What is the Truth? What is Free Will?

The Truth is that I am at cause for my entire reality.

My Free Will can choose to either accept this Truth or not.

Not choosing is also a choice.

Just my 2 cents worth.
