Airstream Lust

For about as long as I can remember, I've had a love affair with Airstreams - the "silver bullet" of the American black top. Obviously not everyone in my demographic shares my enthusiasm, for in an effort to hook younger buyers, Airstream has unveiled the International CCD - a classic Airstream body with an interior straight out of IKEA. Stainless steel fixtures, space age white cabinets, black mahogany walls - oh my.

Comments

And obviously the interior designer know just what they were doing - placing an ibook (albiet an older version) in one of the interior shots. YOU, you young modern person - you MUST buy this updated classic modern space age thing - liberate yourself to the open road in this capsule or we will poor boiling water on you from this target kettle! ok, sorry I'm getting carried away.

I grew up camping in a travel trailer with my parents. About two weekends a month, and about four weeks out of every summer, we were Somewhere Else, camping, swimming, exploring, etc. But we never had an Airstream... my father refused to buy one, stating that they looked silly on the outside and didn't have enough storage room on the inside. Now, my wife won't even consider a travel trailer. Her point: it's not a vacation if she has to do the cooking, cleaning up after, and what-not. Oh well.

And that designer is...Christopher Deam, "a SF-based, George Nelson-award-winning architect and furniture designer".

My husband and I are the proud new owners of an Airstream Intl CCD. We absolutely love love love it. Nothing compares to it. We had been looking for something like this for years. Sure Airstreams are more expensive than all the other travel trailers, but believe me, this is a lifetime purchase. You don't even need to stay in a posh RV resort. That's the beauty of this trailer. Going anywhere in this thing is an experience. We couldn't get the smiles off of our faces for two days when we took it out for our first trip camping at the beach. Right on, Airstream!
