Fox News, Please Grow Up

If you happen to flip on Fox News during lunch breaks or in the afternoons, you will often see live "Opinion Polls" where they pose questions and open the phone lines for callers. Most of the time the questions are empty, silly, and obvious, but today, just when I thought Fox News' reputation couldn't sink any lower, they jumped all over the rather uneventful news that Andrea Thompson is leaving CNN Headline News.

With broad smiles, Fox News' anchors posed the question, "which actress should CNN hire next?"

Fox News, despite the fact that they're now the most popular cable news channel, behaves like a teenager driving their parents' car - obnoxious, defiant, blowing the horn and freely engaging in puffery, hyperbole, and snarky jabs at anyone opposed to their conservative agenda. The Thompson jab is only one example. A couple of weeks ago, Fox News asked audiences if they thought Jane Fonda was really a communist and should be tried for treason. They padded the piece with plenty of photos and videos of Jane standing next to, you guessed it, Ted Turner.

Fox News struts around like a drunk, obnoxious peacock with little regard or respect for the unspoken responsibility that journalists are supposed to adhere to.

Don't you think it's now hard to take any mainstream news organization seriously because of all the corporate ownership, the influence from advertisers and all the sensationalism.
